Rarely one thing on its own. But usually one of these is the way in.

Holding back in meetings, second-guessing decisions, a quiet feeling that everyone else has worked something out that you have not.
A head that runs the same conversation twenty times, and will not switch off at the end of the day.
The thing you have promised yourself you will stop, more than once. Procrastination, the phone, the evening routine that undoes the day.
A new job, a career ending, retirement, a relationship changing shape. Knowing something needs to move but not which way.
Parents and carers especially. Running on empty, and not quite sure where you went in the middle of it all.
You are capable, and you know it. The pattern that keeps stopping you is the thing we work on.
How I work
I am not attached to one method. I use whichever combination suits what you are working on, and I will explain what we are doing and why as we go.
Getting clear on what you actually want, what is in the way, and what you are going to do about it. Practical, and aimed at action.
Neuro-linguistic programming looks at how the way you think and talk to yourself shapes what you do. Then it gives you ways to change that.
A deeply relaxed, focused state where change is often easier to make. You stay aware and in control throughout. Nothing like stage hypnosis.

Try this now
One of the simplest things I teach. Breathe in for four, then out slowly for six. Six breaths, one minute. Many people find a longer out-breath helps them settle.
Wheel of life
A classic coaching exercise. Score each area of your life out of 10 — honestly, not how it should be. Watch the shape change. Nothing is saved or sent.
In their words
“After one appointment, I felt a remarkable change within myself… I felt a newfound confidence that I hadn’t experienced before. Thanks to Stuart’s guidance, I managed to pass my ADI part 3 today.”
“We went over several techniques on how to process negative memories… I now feel like a massive weight has been lifted from me, even my family have noticed an immediate difference in the way I carry myself. Well worth the investment.”
“Stuart took me on an inner journey on this first session which was both relaxing and inspiring. He has the most mesmeric voice which is both comforting and uplifting.”
“I went with an open mind and didn’t know what to expect but have come away full of excitement and enthusiasm and the possibilities that lay ahead.”
“Absolutely excellent retreat day… we had life coaching, breath work sessions, meditation sessions & yoga training… I can’t recommend these guys enough.”
“His sessions are always interesting and often challenging.”

What tends to change
But these are the kinds of shift people describe when the work starts to hold.
You replay conversations long after they have finished.
You notice it sooner, and let it go faster.
You know what you should do, and you do not do it.
The gap between deciding and doing gets smaller.
Your confidence depends on how the day is going.
You have something steadier to stand on.
The same habit wins, every time.
You catch the moment before it takes over.
About me
I served with Police Scotland for thirty years and retired as an Inspector. Towards the end of that career I went on a life coaching course out of curiosity, and it changed what I wanted to do with the rest of my working life.
I trained in life coaching, NLP and hypnotherapy, started Stuart Robertson Mindset in 2017, and have been coaching ever since — including work with autistic children and adults through two charities.
From the blog

It is two in the morning and you are still editing something you said at lunch. Here is what is going on.

Most people are waiting to feel confident before they act. It usually works the other way round.

If you have promised yourself you will stop, more than once, the problem is probably not your willpower.
Twenty minutes, no charge. Tell me what is going on and I will tell you straight whether I think I can help.
